Guide To Educational Software Licensing
The most frequent questions we are asked relate
to licensing of computer software. We hope that
the following will be of assistance to you. This
is provided as a guide for our customers only
and does not constitute a legal interpretation.
- Site-a
site refers to one distinct organization or
building (e.g. a school)
- A
single user license means that you can install
and use the software on one computer.
- An
additional user license usually refers
to a piece of software, which loads completely
onto your computers hard drive. The additional
user license allows you to put the piece of
software onto one extra computer on the same
site. To qualify for an additional user license
you must have bought a Single User license
- An
additional user disk- usually refers to programmes
that need the CD to run. The additional user
disk allows you to run the piece of software
on one extra computer on the same site. To qualify
for an additional user disk you must have bought
a single user license.
- Site
License- this license allows you to install
the software on all the computers in your site.
- Network
License this license allows you to install
the software on a server and run it over your
network. It will sometime be limited to a number
of users.
- Multipacks-
this is where you buy a number of copies of
a programme together at a reduced rate. They
must all be used within the same site.
